Microgravimetric lectin biosensor based on signal amplification using carbohydrate-stabilized gold nanoparticles.
A highly sensitive microgravimetric lectin biosensor has been developed using carbohydrate-stabilized Au nanoparticles as a signal amplifier; mannose-stabilized Au nanoparticles formed a sandwich-type complex with the target Con A specifically bound to a mannose-modified Au QCM electrode to give an amplified frequency response.
متن کاملPNA–sugar conjugates as tools for the spatial screening of carbohydrate–lectin interactions*
Multivalent carbohydrate–lectin interactions are essential for a multitude of biological recognition events. Much effort has been spent in the synthesis of potent multivalent scaffolds in order to mimic or inhibit biological carbohydrate–protein interactions. However, the defined spatial presentation of carbohydrates remained a challenging task. Peptide nucleic acid (PNA)and DNA-based double he...
متن کاملMultivalent interaction-based carbohydrate biosensors for signal amplification.
Multivalent interaction between boronic acids immobilized on quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) sensor surface and the carbohydrates modified Au-nanoparticle (AuNP) has been demonstrated for the development of a sensitive carbohydrate biosensor. Briefly, a boronic acid-containing polymer (boropolymer) as multivalent carbohydrate receptor was oriented immobilized on the cysteamine coated electrod...
متن کاملSynthetic Approaches to Study Multivalent Carbohydrate–Lectin Interactions
The specific recognition of carbohydrate structures in biological systems (Box 5) by carbohydrate-binding proteins (lectins) is the basis of numerous intraand intercellular events ranging from the control of protein folding to cell–cell communication during development, inflammation, and cancer metastasis [1]. Investigation of carbohydrate–lectin interactions can be approached from two directio...
متن کاملResponsive Photonic Crystal Carbohydrate Hydrogel Sensor Materials for Selective and Sensitive Lectin Protein Detection.
Lectin proteins, such as the highly toxic lectin protein, ricin, and the immunochemically important lectin, jacalin, play significant roles in many biological functions. It is highly desirable to develop a simple but efficient method to selectively detect lectin proteins. Here we report the development of carbohydrate containing responsive hydrogel sensing materials for the selective detection ...
